Pros

Not much any longer that is good about grainger. Benefits used to be robust but since they announced profit sharing cuts its nothing special.

Cons

Very political and judgmental. Management is always right and they don't care what employees have to say. Constant change in leadership is a joke. More upper management without investing in staff. Continue to off source jobs is a troubling trend.

Pros

I enjoy the freedom I have to go out and get my stuff done on a daily basis. No micromanagement. As long as you're at goal, which is how it should be.

Cons

It's getting really tough to compete with some of the online competitors. Grainger has outstanding customer service.. And having a sales rep is awesome. But if your customer knows what they're looking for, there's no reason they can't order from ZORO or Amazon.

Pros

Profit sharing and benefits are great. Company encourages AM's to use their PTO to avoid burnout. Work from home to your account package.

Cons

Only 40% of AM's hit goal solely due to unrealistic goal setting. First year you get a decent goal, make money and then you get the shaft in year 2. If you don't make goal you are then put under microscope and subjected to a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). You can have success with all of your other accounts but if a few drag you down then good luck. Management will make you feel like you suck at your job. Pricing and terrible goal setting is what is causing this great turnover within the AM ranks. Low AM morale. Salary is also not on point with local cost of living, if I lived in the south I'd have a house by now but in the Bay Area I'm lucky make rent.
