Pros

I feel one of the best reasons is that Grainger has been so stable in its approximately 80 history. It has been fair to its Branch Employees and promoted those that want to grow and are willing to work for that growth.

Cons

Grainger is slow to change. It reacts too slowly to what competitors are doing. There at times is a disconnect between Corporate employees and what is really happening in the field.

Pros

The compensation and benefits are exceptional , even for part time employees. Hours are not so bad. Co-workers are fun and helpfui.

Cons

The company as a whole needs to listen more to its employees and customers!! There have a been a lot of changes lately that have had a negative impact on both. Staffing is not done well. You should not have to feel rushed everyday to get your task completed. Your made to feel that quantity is more important than quality!!

Pros

It's a steady job with great benefits that multiply over time. The job is somewhat recession proof, as there is always a need for maintenance items at the very least. There are a wide variety of diffferent jobs as Grainger has warehouses, distribution centers, and call centers nationwide. The plum assignments are, for the most part, located at the headquarters.

Cons

The usual office politics do not always reward merit, and the overall value of the company can be overshadowed by an uninspired direct manager. Also, while they will pay for education in business fields, a degree is not always rewarded internally. It is strange to watch MBA's doing customer service work.
