Pros

Great company if you're new to sales. They have a great training program that lasts roughly 7 months. It's a very good program that even the most seasoned sales rep can learn something from. Decent pay as long as you're successful and meet your numbers.

Cons

The amount of "busy work" they expect from their account managers is a overwhelming. Prepare for an extra 10-20 hours a week of internal busy work or staying on top of anything that's been sent to sourcing. The sourcing department and quotes are a train wreck but is also crucial to be a successful account manager. Everything within the company is BIG brothered by corporate. Account Managers have little control over anything within their book of business. Anything that needs to be done or requested requires an in depth business case which must then be approved by the district or regional manager....even basic discounts on anything. They offer little control but hold Account Managers accountable for EVERYTHING. They are quick to put account managers on a PIP if they have a bad half. If you're willing to work a minimum of 60 hours a week to maintain a normal book of business, nothing extra, then Grainger is your place to work! If you want to move up, you're required to make it known to your manager and begin the "professional development" process, meaning you do your job and also start attending meetings and completing work for the new role you hope to obtain, ie free labor for Grainger.

Pros

Good if you're a submissive, obedient slave, or looking for a bridge of a few years for retirement.

Cons

Lies lies lies. Literally all of their "culture" crap is left at the office/warehouse door, double standards, the "perception is reality" bs only applies when its convenient to upper management. They WILL lie to you to get you in the door, work homelife balance is bs and you will ALWAYS catch the poo end of the stick on that matter if you're production or facilities. That's just a few contradictions from what you will be sold and the actually reality of the brand new LVDC. Believe it and save yourself some trouble or dont and see for yourself, but I warned ya either way 😉

Pros

Great Benefits, Monday- Friday schedule

Cons

They don't care about building relationships with the customers, they will fire you in a heart beat, as they have training classes on standby. The work environment very militant, you come in put your head set and have to meet your dials and minutes as they pull you off the phones consistently for meeting but do not adjust the metrics. You will get written up if minutes and dials are not met. No flexibility at all, if you get in a car accident or have a flat tire, that will be an occurrence, that is Graingers "NO FAULT" policy. The goals they give you cannot be justified or shown to you as why you must hot that very high number. There is no way to track where you are with this goal either. Your ability to hit a goal is based on the type of accounts you get and the season for that particular company, some are good some never stand a chance. They will tell you otherwise. This is not a place to build a futre because I have seen them fire good workers left and right for the dumbest reasons, this company has no heart for their employees. Find another place to work. You will be miserable, oh and your customers laugh when you try to INTRO call them because chances are that customer has gotten that call from someone like you many times in less than 2 years. Also you have to compete with ZORO, Grainger's other company who is under priced so customers go there instead of you, therefore making it harder to reach that goal! Your WELCOME!
