Growing Pains or Disfunction

Pros

work from home, long term benefits for longterm associates, collaborative and accommodating individual contributors. a lot of work to keep one busy, if being busy is what you are looking for in job satisfaction.

Cons

Grange appears to be a place where leaders/managers can easily migrate together from one company to the next. They travel in packs from one company to the next. This creates a culture divide and ambiguity in where we are headed as a team and organization. There is lack of direction for the individual contributors as we struggle to identify priorities, roles for individuals and ownership. There is also a strong fear of leaders offending other leaders so not to suffer consequences.

Pros

Working there for over 5 decades it was place you wanted too call home. Over the past 10 years it’s a completely different place.

Cons

Out sourcing is the key phrase. Over the past few years they have down sized and let a record number of employees go. Eliminating whole departments and currently struggling with there choices.

Don’t do it

Pros

Some remote positions available. Behavior based rating system.

Cons

This company is heavily engrained in the good ole boy system. They are not diverse at all in management. Their senior leadership team consists of people who are not knowledgeable about the jobs they are managing. They are not innovative and have no training set up for their claims associates. The current management is concerned with the company’s bottom line/profitability. However, they are profitable because they always run understaffed in critical areas in claims. They have no concern about being properly staffed so their associates are not having to do the job of 2-3 people. They continue to allow people to retire out and do not replace them, meanwhile they add onto the workload by combining departments.
