Pros

Remote work, nice coworkers, autonomy to do your job

Cons

Very, very low pay. Promotions don’t provide much of a pay bump. Annual pay increases laughable. Offshoring all technical jobs

Pros

Granicus has grown through acquisitions, so my view is limited to the GovM division which is one of the older parts of the company. Granicus has an excellent benefits package in North America, and the unlimited time off has the real benefit of letting you take time off when you need it with no hassle. Of course, you still need to pull your weight and people take the same amount of time off as they would elsewhere. I truly enjoyed how the engineering teams valued software engineering best practices, as it was reflected in the great people I worked with. I sincerely miss my team and the great work we did.

Cons

As a VC-funded company, top management goals ran contrary to goals at the department management level in my three years there. Staffing was continually reduced and more than half the development time was spent fighting "emergency" technical debt fires that could easily have been anticipated and avoided. In 2024 they "awakened" to how much cheaper offshore development is and laid off half of GovM development, keeping the minimum people for knowledge transfer. Now one team is responsible for almost 30 applications. If you see reviews complaining about the lack of development support for products, this is why. This off-shoring is no doubt a blueprint for other parts of the company. A red flag is when individuals unexpectedly get transferred to another department. The severance package is minimal and the same for everyone (proof they actually don't give a <> about years of hard work or exemplary performance)
