Pros

There were a few coworkers (non managers) that were great guys whom i got along with great.

Cons

Oh lordy, where should I even start... Hmm, oh I know! No matter how inclement the weather may be Granite will not close and they will expect you to be there. If you call in because there's 5 feet of snow and you literally can't get to work you will be charged a vacation day. By the end of this past winter I had used all of my vacation time simply because I was not physically able to come into work. Second, management is pretty silly on the PBR Team/at Granite. You will be disciplined in the most condescending fashion imaginable for the most ridiculous things, that more times than not, aren't even your fault or are within your control. You'll be treated like a child pretty much. Third, they will pay you next to nothing, you'd be better off donating your time to charity... Fourth, the entire company culture is that misery. No one I had spoken to at Granite enjoyed working there or was enthusiastic about thier job. I have been on two interviews since I left Granite and both interviewers started by saying they've interviewed people that have worked at Granite and everyone they had talked to said how much they hate Granite. Granite Telecommunications, your reputation precedes you! P.S. I'd just like to point out that Granite has apparently been posting fake 5 star reviews to offset all the real 1 star reviews. Anything about a 1 star review you might as well assume it's fake. Prospects, take my advice and steer clear of the PBR Team and Granite, or misery will find you!

Pros

401k matching is now awesome! How awesome? Come work here and find out! Got more paid time off, and incentive to learn and master transferable computer skills. Tuition reimbursement, and great fundraising opps every Friday to charities the employees get to elect (pending committee review). Massive donations to cancer research--its a great feeling to make a difference!

Cons

Temp to perm process is not consistent, some people go perm right away, while others have to wait 3 months getting crap pay from the temp agencies. Not an easy business to learn--there's no degree for telecommunications business so to speak and learning "telephonese" is very difficult. Thank goodness for Newton's Telecom dictionary!

I regret going through the temp-to-perm process.

Pros

Easy to get job, reasonable pay rate for first office job out of college, relatively stable schedule

Cons

Strict scheduling (expected to work the 8-5 or 10-7 with no tolerance for tardiness, even during states of emergency), any problems relating to other departments or customers fall on your shoulders as an employee and you are reprimanded for things that are not your fault in even the slightest, competitive environment for something as meager as a Wal-Mart gift card turns the whirlwind of unpredictable performance metrics into something more cutthroat, being yelled at for not meeting goal metrics when the work for those metrics simply has not come in
