Pros

I love the product, the mission and supporting local merchants Highly values DEI in a very public manor Work life balance Flexibility Hybrid

Cons

Very disorganized since I started, which is so surprising as a large organization. Leaders are overseas and doesn't translate well in the states. Low base pay. High turnover. 3 days a week in office mandatory (which is pretty common and could be worse)

Applicant Beware

Pros

Hour lunch. Work from home on Fridays with the possibility of working remotely multiple days at some point.

Cons

Old/outdated leads to start with in order to make one sale within a month. If one sale is not made, you're fired before you complete a 3 month long training. If you make a sale, you find out from management it doesn't matter the quality of the agreement, because you're not meant to receive commission on it, it's just meant to keep your position to continue with the long training. Bad reputation with merchants. No real structure. Management can be terminated just as quickly as the sales reps. Open floor environment, so it is SUPER LOUD all the time making it difficult to hear the person on the phone. Very childish, and young team members with no urgency, which management didn't seem to really care about any distractions because more time than not they're just as loud and obnoxious. You can tell that trainers/managers who were once reps did everything they could to get their current position so they didn't have to worry about sales quotas which could lead to termination. Which is amusing because their attitude is that of someone who believes they have job security there which doesn't exist anyways at any place you work. Just an overall bad experience. You would think the name Groupon, which many are pretty familiar with would have a better reputation considering their brand. But the fact is they're just a regular company with a well known name. I know of small to medium size companies that have their act together way beyond Groupon. It's like when someone pays a lot of money for a pair of jeans because of the label, but they could've bought a cheaper pair that is the same quality. That's all Groupon is...a label.

Horrible People Practices

Pros

This was a great place when i joined, but unfortunately all of the great HR and TA team members have either been hush hush laid off or pushed out.

Cons

Since the group in the Czech Republic took over, things have been a mess. The internal HR team does not feel heard by upper leadership. It’s hard as an HR professional to defend practices we don’t believe in collectively. Retention matters. How you talk to people matters. THE LAW matters! They will also randomly lay off people with no explanation to them or the broader team.
