Poor Leadership and Toxic Culture

Pros

Remote possibilities are a pro

Cons

Guidehouse is by far the worst consulting firm I’ve worked for. The Financial Crimes department is extremely poorly managed, with incompetent leaders who have little understanding of how to manage teams or deliver quality work. Employees are treated poorly, overworked, and given unrealistic expectations with minimal support or direction. The pay is below industry standards, and the systems and processes are some of the worst I’ve seen in any organization as they are inefficient, outdated, and disorganized. For a consulting firm, the lack of structure and professionalism is shocking. Leadership in the Financial Crimes group is especially disappointing as many are unqualified, dismissive, and often rude to their staff. The environment is toxic, morale is low, and turnover is extremely high as a result. Look at the other reviews. They’re very accurate

Pros

Remote work with flexible schedules that allows you to work whenever

Cons

This role initially appeared to be meaningful and mission-oriented, but the reality quickly turned into a distressing experience. A concerning number of Black leaders left abruptly—many pushed out in ways that reflected deeper structural issues. Racial tokenism is rampant, with little real support or sponsorship to ensure your success as a leader. Microaggressions are a regular part of the workplace culture, often dismissed or minimized by leadership. The environment fosters gossip, cliques, and exclusion—especially within the poorly run West segment. The project pipeline is weak, causing underutilization for some while junior consultants are overworked and underpaid. What looked like a values-driven opportunity ended up being psychologically unsafe. If you value equity, professionalism, and a healthy work environment, look elsewhere.

Pros

Working here is only good for getting some experiece. Stay for a year, then get out as soon as you can.

Cons

- The stress is nonstop and crushing - No such thing as work-life balance, just endless overtime - Management completely ignores you effort, no praise, no growth, just silence - Going the extra mile leads nowhere, just more work dumped on you with zero appreciation - The entire experience left me exhausted, frustrated, and questioning why I even applied in the first place.
