It's not "primary research"... it's glorified telemarketing to recruit "consultants" so hedge funds can take shortcuts and there are more than a few "bad apples" that clearly want proprietary information. The next job you get will likely be entry level as well, since you don't really learn any new skills other than reading resumes and making phone calls.
