Pros

Openness in discussing critical issues. Extremely high level of software engineers. Employees are trusted. Doing the right thing is always the end goal. No petty power politics. Great software. Customers come first. Test first. Performance testing critical. Writing great enterprise software is really, really hard. Guidewire is doing a darn good job of it.

Cons

I have to go over the San Mateo bridge three days a week. Sigh.

Pros

I joined Guidewire because of the people, technology and business opportunity. All have exceeded my expectations. The Guidewire team is dedicated to each other and most importantly to its customers. There are some extremely bright people at Guidewire and I have truly enjoyed working with all of them. I have been at Guidewire for a number of years now and it has been the most rewarding experience in my career thus far.

Cons

There is not much I can say on the negative side. There have been some growing pains along the way but most of what you would expect as a company matures. The founders of the company have really tried to maintain the culture of the company as it has grown.

Pros

The first place I have worked here office politics seems non-existent. Nobody building personal empires, no obstructionism, no disingenuous behavior...just honest, committed people working rationally to make the products better. Totally willing to spend money for productivity increases...none of the "do more with less" attitude that you see at large companies. Small enough that an individual can really have an impact.

Cons

San Mateo office is beautiful, but it can be a long commute. P&C insurance is not a "sexy" business to be in.
