Pros

Guidewire has a great group of leaders with in the organization that allow employees to be their best selves. The management I have experienced throughout my tenure at Guidewire has always been fantastic, they do not micro manage, instead they ask how they can help you be successful and if there is anything missing to allow you to be successful.

Cons

I have no cons. I really enjoy working at Guidewire.

Pros

The community effort and teamwork across the company makes for a great working environment. I'm in the professional services group and often we are alone or with only a couple colleagues on any given project. I think with most other companies this would be a daunting proposition where you have to fight to survive and demand support from others in the company. Not with Guidewire. Other professional services colleagues are always an email away and will not only provide support but often times, unprovoked, will go out of their way to help with questions or brainstorm on a solution or dilemma. There have been great strides in the recent years to build out a services management structure that is dedicated and available for help with projects, staffing, and career progression. I no longer have to rely on my manager who is also in the field and has customer responsibilities (I appreciate the countless hours all the field managers used to put in but hopefully this is a very welcome change for them as well).

Cons

As part professional services, we signed up for travel, but it can become very burdensome without many opportunities for burn out management. Be aware of this if you plan to join as a consultant. There have been clear changes to travel policy that make life on the road harder. A small change here and there probably seem minor to those who don't spend their life on the road but they add up and negatively impact our experience. Guidewire is now public, so this makes sense from a shareholder perspective. Unfortunately, these changes make life as a services employee more and more burdensome.
