Pros

Work-life balance Stable environment Colleagues are collegial

Cons

Guidewire used to be a bottom up company. Developers were given freedom to drive projects. Now it's top down culture. Management holds most decision power - while not being hands-on enough to really understand what's going on. It's OK if you just want a cushy job and don't mind being told to implement suboptimal solutions. Not good if you are aspired to do the right thing. Technical caliber of engineering teams is going down as more old timers quit.

Pros

1. Confident company because of its position in the PC insurance industry 2. Pay relatively well comparing to other consulting companies, but become cheaper and cheaper. 3. Good place to plan retirement. Definitely not for new or mid-career professionals 4. People are nice in general. I miss some coworkers

Cons

1. It’s funny if you look at the first 5 pages of reviews, 99% are from current employees. Why? Higher level sent massive emails to ask so. 2. They have new consulting management team. A lot of them don't even have project experience. They are hired to give "false promises" IMHO. They don't really have any power to decide your project etc, basically not anything. However, they give you promises. They are hired to do so and take the feud. I've known quite a few people left because their CM gave them promises but turned nothing. They weren't even willing to put someone close to family because of family urgency. 3. Unlike a lot of companies that care about your career (a lot of companies do, of course a lot of them out there don't), and help build your path, most people in this company don't care. All they want you is to get job done. If you need some places that help you grow, think twice 4. Another proof as above #3. This is the only company I know of does not have any school tuition reimbursement. (of course a lot of companies don't either. I am just comparing companies of similar size I know of or in the same industry) 5. They use gosu, so in one year, you will be an outlier from the real world Other misc but not important to me. like, the company has a 3 week training when you start. They don't want you to rent a car for entire 3 weeks. Whenever it comes to company's own expense, it becomes very cheap.
