Pros

Does very important work in the community. Staff are nice. free parking.

Cons

Disregard for employee mental health Employee burnout was very common. Entire departments would turn over regularly. Many heads of departments worked over 60 hours a week. There were 4 different Directors of HR in the three years I was there. Overworking was a heavy part of the culture, making mental wellness for staff very difficult. Pretending to care about DEI A huge goal of the marketing team was to advertise how important DEI was to the company. However, many employees of color felt the culture was racist and oppressive. Guild was actively telling the world how anti racist they were, and attracting hopeful diverse candidates, while employees of color were suffering. Executives didn’t care about this and wanted Marketing to keep doing what we were doing in order to attract more staff they could underpay and underappreciate. I never saw any improvement in DEI in the time I was there.

Pros

Great Mission. Caring co-workers. Close to where I live.

Cons

In my opinion there is poor leadership at the highest level. Leadership don't seem to possess the technical knowledge or execution skills to lead this struggling organization. Maintenance and IT are two examples of neglect; ask any staff about how poorly our computers and cell phones have worked/not worked in the past 4 years, ask any staff in Residential Services how poorly maintained facilities are. Poor communication, poor planning and even poorer execution is the pattern. Don't take my word for it. Decide for yourself; Middle managers and supervisors are blamed for mistakes made by those at the very top. I suspect that the Board hasn't got a clue how bad things are. Employees have no idea who they are and I'm sure the Board has no idea who employees are. Very high turnover at all levels of the organization. 100% turnover of all HR staff between 2021 and 2022, had 4 HR directors in the last 5 years. Chief Administrative Officer quite, Operations Manager left, 100% turnover in the IT department, 100% turnover of Service Directors in the past 3 years, program managers and supervisors leaving left and right. Some positions have been vacant for almost one year. Why is that? The worst is, leadership will say they want honest feedback, but the belief among many long term staff is that leadership often is defensive and reactive or simply don't care. Same credentials, same work, but staff of color continue to be paid the lowest, and have the least opportunity to fully participate in benefits afforded to employees.
