Pros

The company is willing to invest in AI tool seats. If you want to spend your day experimenting with new software without the "burden" of actually producing a finished product, you will have plenty of resources.

Cons

Wild West approach to AI that’s just making everyone’s job harder. Performance reviews have become AI-centric rather than outcome/impact oriented. We are operating in a permanent state of ambiguity when it comes to priorities, expectations, direction, support, etc. Management’s tendency to rationalize ongoing toxic behavior has led to an irrecoverable loss of trust.

Pros

Outside of the care department, the job seems good.

Cons

Micro-managers and the WFM team that publicly ping you via a huge Slack channel anytime you are off queue. Ridiculous metrics that make no sense. No sense of loyalty to employees who actually care about Gusto and the customers. No transparency, and you get disciplined if you try to provide feedback in a way that management doesn't like. Heavens forbid you share feedback as a group or publicly via Slack, yet "feedback is a gift". No room for growth because you get stuck wherever you are and only move up when they need support in a specific area, instead of being able to move up based on skillset and knowledge. Pay is low compared to competitors. They make last-minute decisions and don't care how they affect their employees and don't care about the feedback they provide.

Pros

A good team of designers and developers

Cons

Was hired on as a contract principle designer. During my interview process I was sold that there was plenty of growth and opportunity within the role to make vast adjustments across the experience, along with extensions and FT promise. After being hired I quickly noticed that my position became more of a junior level copy/paste/edit design situation almost overnight with communication dropping simultaneously. Worlds away from previous engagement opportunities that I had come so accustomed to seeing. Immediately felt like I was hired as a shoehorn until they found someone else, which was not communicated or anticipated. Two months later, after hiring a full time resource weeks prior, I am then notified 2 days before my contract was set to renew that I would not be extended. The project that I was promised to be a design lead within had barely started. Begs the question that if I wasn't the person that you wanted at the beginning, why hire me in the first place.
