Pros

Decent salary, amazing benefits, option for remote work

Cons

MICROMANAGEMENT, when I first started it wasn't bad at all. Towards the end the micromanagement got so bad that you didn't feel like you could spend quality time with your customers because you needed to rush through to get to the next call to be able to hit your numbers. A lot of their best people ended up leaving because they couldn't stand the micromanagement.

Pros

Collegiate culture, nice snacks in great office space, good pay, diversity friendly.

Cons

Gusto stuck with founding idea that online payroll better than spreadsheet. Market has evolved. Others more relevant: Rippling "HR Cloud" or ADP Roll ("Do payroll in 1 minute"). Took eye off marketing while CMO played sales. Low brand equity can't defend market decline or attract bigger clients. No big moves except pricing [fail]. Regularly flunk projects with poor execution. "Nice" culture = no GTD mindset & hard to challenge ineffective-yet-convincing talkers. Weird matrix structure. No one accountable. Revenue not held to account. No feet held to fire. "Sales" is a zombie. Intuit all in on AI while Gusto no data or tech depth. Platform pivot seems good idea, but red flag is Gusto don't eat own dogwood and run own payroll on it. Lots of tech debt against nimble newcomers (Check). Expect more layoffs.
