Pros

I talked to new people daily. The company was really good with helping me get comfortable with each position such as cash register. The job helped me feel comfortable approaching people; my communication and people skills greatly improved overall.

Cons

Management was subpar. My pronouns and preferred name was never used. Customers were usually pretty rude and dismissive. Pretty difficult making friends or being good terms with those I worked with including coworkers and managers. Mental health wasn’t really understood. I tend to get overstimulated easily and am believes to be autistic though currently undiagnosed - this effects my daily interactions as I often need to be things multiple times that can differ from saying same sentence on repeat or in a different way altogether. I noticed a majority of the people I interacted with were very annoyed with this neurodivergent trait in me. Those people ranged from coworkers, managers, and customers. Towards the last few weeks of leaving H&M, I no longer felt safe. The manager who hired me was no longer there. She was replaced by someone who would constantly micromanage. He would expect you to be working constantly when I need to process what’s going on or it could manifest to panic attacks. My managers were not very easy to talk to. I felt I had to constantly mask my neurodivergencies where it was bad for my mental health.
