True Producer Environment

Pros

A true producer environment. After many stops in my sales career, I have seen time and time again, Sales getting the brunt of change, blame, and negative focus by companies. I have been with HCTec close to three years, and I can truly say that HCTec fosters the perfect environment for Sales and Recruiting to thrive. The majority of production staff have been here 1.5+ years. No easy feat when it comes to a Commission based role (with generous Draws). They do not hire people lightly. Every person they bring on their team is given full opportunities to earn. I have never seen a Director invest as much into their staff. They understand the pains and struggle it takes to grow a business, and meet it with patience and full support. There is no one way to sell, there is no perfect mold for a sales person, and management in the Tampa office thrives on this fact. The biggest Pro I have is that there is no micro-management. Our Sales Director and VP are both here to support us. Both will drop what they are doing to welcome you into their office for any questions or advice. Their many years of Staffing Experience is the biggest asset our team has. Those that have exceeded here, are those that ask questions, involve management, and heed their advice (not just listen and disregard). They will jump on conference calls with target clients, current clients, and calls to handle client issues whenever asked. Our Sales Director didn't even bat an eye when I asked him to join me on a business trip in January in freezing weather. Their flexibility when it comes to the sales process and client delivery is second to none. Those that have failed, are those that do not seek advice, do not look to them for support, and look at others instead of looking at themselves. We have weekly 1:1's with our Directors here at HCTec. These are OUR meetings, we dictate what we want to discuss and focus on. Our Directors give us as long as we need to discuss obstacles, challenges, wins, and are there for you to even just vent frustration. It's a free Sales Therapy Session. This industry is not meant for everyone. We are selling a service providing a product with free will. It's hard. The support we receive, and the absence of micro-management give us all the tools we need to succeed. Office environment is absolutely amazing. Communication is open and fun. We all connect on a personal level. We throw baby showers, happy hours, and some mornings we just talk and connect with each other. We are one big team. I don't remember the last week someone didnt bring in donuts, chikfila, or bagels. We have clear goals set by management with our input. We receive positive feedback regularly, and negatives are met with a constructive and valuable approach. Be excited if you have been approached with an opportunity here. You will dictate your success. Corporate Benefits are great. Matching 401ks (they match and switched to a company in 2017 that has performed exceptionally), 15 Days PTO, remote days as needed, free Life Insurance. Coffee, supplies, and snacks are provided.

Cons

Like everywhere, Health Insurance took a hit for us heading into 2018. We have two valuable HSA options for Health, and to offer support, HCTec is putting $800 into our account to start out with. Pretty unheard of. There isn't much room for upward mobility, due to size of firm. This isn't too much a negative because of the earning opportunities at the Producer Level.

Pros

This is in reference to the Tampa office location and not the other divisions/locations of HCTec. Base pay was relevant to the market, colleagues were great to work with, and commissions were uncapped. PTO 15days and 40hrs Bereavement. Great IT and HR support both locally and at corporate location.

Cons

Tampa's management lacked strategy to sustain long term growth. Very minimal training to include about a 1 day session yearly with no follow up or implementation. Development of employees consisted of one on one's that were infrequent and were typically skimmed through with no true feedback or direction given. Management consistently made irrational and impromptu decisions based on emotion. Moods and attitudes of management changed daily sometimes hourly with high high's and low low's. Employees expressed their frustration with this on a daily basis. Unethical decisions and behaviors were consistent among management. For example, management questioned taking time off for bereavement and even a severe medical emergency. HCTec has some great people working for them and sounds like most of their offices and management are enjoyable but unfortunately this can not be said for Tampa's management team (Sales).

Pros

Draw is fairly high for industry. Uncapped commissions. 40 hours for bereavement. Culture is largely enjoyable when the company is doing well. Fingerprint entry into office. Excellent tech support staff. Fantastic (and very under-appreciated) onsite HR. Friendly colleagues in other offices (Texas, Nashville, Steamboat Springs). Mostly friendly colleagues in Tampa office. Catered lunches, oftentimes.

Cons

"Management" as mentioned below refers to that in the Tampa office and not those at headquarters. Favoritism is rampant. Management and certain "top performers" lack humility. Geographic and alpha splits are poorly distributed. No chance for career growth. Mind-numbingly repetitive. Insurance benefits are hardly benefits. Fifteen paid days off includes everything: sickness, vacation, parental leave, etc. Some employees are allowed adjusted schedules, and select employees work far less than the required 40 hours per week. Account managers are not supported when they start small. Recruiters are not supported when they fight for consultants. Office is in a far-flung suburban part of town with crippling road traffic. Leads are far outdated. Management encourages ignoring the federal and state "Do Not Call" registries. Management helps those who don't need it and punishes those who may need more support and encouragement. Volunteer work comes with a lot of complaining. Only certain employees are allowed remote work (management says the ones who have been with the company longest are allowed, but this is also extended to one particular account manager who just started last year and has had the world handed to her by management, leading to resentment from everyone else). Biggest issue is that the moods and attitudes of Tampa's management change drastically and without warning.
