Pros

Large company and will never go out of business.

Cons

Corrupt Management company wide. Corrupt Human Resources personnel and division. Their main goal is to fire you. Even if they can not find that you have done anything wrong they will make up a false claim to put in your personnel file. Discrimination is tolerated. Management is verbally abusive. Sexual Harassment happens daily. It matters who you know, not what you know. Management is mentally and verbally abusive. Your every move is monitored. Key strokes on the computer, pictures/video footage from the parking garages to entering/exiting the buildings, even people who spy and monitor how long you were in the restroom or away from your desk. A lot of employees who are busy bodies will spy on each other and then report/“tattle tail” on each other to Human Resources. This causes a ton of drama and an unnecessary toxic work environment. Too many people are too focused on getting employees in trouble instead of doing their actual job. Very immature working environment. Not professional. Burping, passing gas, sleeping/snoring, and profanity is the norm. Verbal threats are tolerated.

Pros

great place to start a career. Pay is good and you get raises regularly. There are advancement oppertunities but that doesn’t come easy. Must be a hard worker. Training is pretty good.

Cons

Parking is an absolute nightmare, if you want a decent parking spot be prepared to show up around 3am for your 7am shift. Conditions can be brutal especially in the heat. Management / upper management can be condradictory at times. For example your boss may tell you one thing and then his boss will tell you something completely different. Your experience at the shipyard can differ wildly depending on your boss. Best thing to do is when you first start, talk to your mates and see how strict your foreman is. Some foreman will fire you just because they don’t like you, some are really good mentors and great people that want to see you succeed.
