Pros

-Company has been around for a long time. -There is room for advancement if you are willing to work every day until you retire. -Represented (craft) employees are offered paid holidays, attendance bonuses, cheaper insurance, pay raises, merit raises, contract bonuses.

Cons

-Parking/the walk can be rough. -Traffic isn't so wonderful but has improved over the years. -Most do not get sick days, only vacation days. Other companies offer both and or more hours to compensate.

Pros

You will get 2 raises a year for your first 5 years, 1 a year up to 9 , depending on the current union contract either a raise every year or a bonus. They will train you to do any of the basic trades that are in the shipyard. You can apply to be in the apprentice school while a regular hourly employee to advance your career. The last pro being you get to build Navy submarines and Nuclear Aircraft Carriers.

Cons

If you are a quality employee in a trade , they will do everything in there power to keep you from management. You will see less skilled employees be promoted based solely on there sex , race and sexual orientation, which as you can imagine leads to problems completing work. Hard work is not rewarded, it's claimed by others, who use said claim to get promoted or get bonuses.
