* Lots of knowledgeable people to learn from. * Coworkers are usually willing to help and not too busy to answer questions. * Flexible schedule when personal things come up. * Good benefits. * Interesting work supporting the Navy. * Opportunity to gain experience in different systems and disciplines.

Cons

* Pay is lower than many other engineering companies. * Yearly raises are typically small. * Navy reviews and approvals can slow projects down. * Last-minute customer changes often create rework. * Progress can feel slow due to long response times and bureaucracy.

Pros

Pay increases every six months (union). Do your work and leave the good part is you don’t have to bring work home.

Cons

Hard physical labor. Brutal weather conditions hot vs cold. If you get hurt on the job you will need extensive paperwork and clearance from your PCP to return to work because they do not provide accommodation even though the company advertise as if they do. If your job entails all those strenuous duties you must be able to do it at all times. The yard is run like a labor plant. You are as worthy as the work you produce. If you are a production worker you keep your personal log of all things that happen because blame runs downward.
