      Pros

      The experience you gain working on the vessel's in this company looks great on any resume. If shipbuilding is your career choice this would be the ideal place to start.

      Cons

      Unfortunately in a company this size your just another cog in the machine. With the workforce sitting between 20, and 25k you are often little more than your employee number.

      Pros

      The hours are very regular with almost no overtime except in extreme circumstances. It is a large enough company with enough employee overlap that you can take time off without too much pain.

      Cons

      They do have frequent lay-offs and job eliminations. They do not seem to care when they eliminate jobs (basically a lay-off called a reduction in force) that it is hard for the former employees to get a new job. When you work for a big company like Ingalls you become very specialized in your work. Unfortunately this means it is hard to get a new job unless its in the same task. New employers only care about what you did the last four years. Many of Ingalls jobs do not have commercial applications.

      Pros

      I enjoy the option to flex my time every week. It keeps me from using my vacation as fast. Pretty good pay and benefits. Job security is pretty stable most of the time. Great co-workers.

      Cons

      Old school mentality in management and innovation is lacking. Cannot use phones with cameras. Company sees to constantly take benefits away every year.
