      Pros

      Great Benefits and growth opportunities, the company is well structured however, there are some positions and job descriptions that HII would not miss a beat if they did not exist. An example is. over 160 Manager 1and up in the engineering chart just in Pascagoula and New Orleans alone. The change document review board going over changes that other people all ready spent dozens of man hours etc.

      Cons

      None, as a company, HII is a great place to work. However, the decision making errors made from time to time by upper management could be consider a "con" For instance, I think that closing Avondale was a terrible decision from the on budget, schedule, quality and safety stand point of view. Closing Avondale maybe the wrong strategic move HII made. Hopefully they obtain the results expected from this decision.

      Ingalls Pascagoula. Since NG left...declining benefits are now the norm.

      Pros

      Big organization stability and resources. There are many great people there. Experts in just about every field that you can learn from. Can specialize if you are able to move internally. Great place to learn quickly. Just out of school initial opportunities are good. Do not spend more than 3 to 5 yrs there.

      Cons

      Employees benefits are being cut consistently. Cut holiday this year. Cut PTO accrual rate. Eliminated Sick Time. Said can Flex time, but limited. Merit raises frozen for 6 months and very small when received before (except mgmt). Your pay check will decrease with respect to inflation. Will likely get no salary increases when you get within 10 yrs of retirement. Would only recommend working here if no other option at this time (why i clicked recommend). Limited hiring of salaried at this time.
