HSO Review post Masterclass

Pros

Treated very well by all staff and customers so far! Was sent on a 6 week intensive training program in Holland, learning the basics of the software and consulting skills. Thrown straight onto a project with a good support network as a backup.

Cons

Customer end users are rarely made aware of associate consults abilities and they can expect a high level of knowledge with only a few weeks of experience. However, customer management are informed of our ability.

Pros

Great people, they invested in me from the start by sending me to live in the Netherlands for 8 weeks to learn about the company and personally develop (fully expensed). They consistently invest in training for employees and help pass exams which looks great for your CV and great for HSO also. Great way to travel the country and meet a variety of personalities in different companies/industries. Also, when not on site at the customer, you can work from home.

Cons

Potentially can be working at home for 4 days a week on occasion. But this is rare and on average I have probably worked away 2-3 days a week since joining.

Pros

- Initial Masterclass training for 2 months in the Netherlands. It was a fantastic experience. I got to learn the about the products we consult on and gained some priceless skills, and friends, which help you further down the line in consulting. There is a real understanding from the management that you are learning and you are allowed to progress at a steady pace. It was difficult for me to find another employer who is ready to invest so much in your career from day 1. - HSO have shown to be pushing to keep their promises in terms of training and benefits. It is clear there is a fresh push in training and development so it would be a great time to start here. We recently had company training days where we broke off to learn different subjects that we were interested in and had an inspiring guest speaker. More training days are planned and weekly knowledge sharing is taking place. - Although the company is growing at a fast pace, the directors and managers have done a great job at keeping HSO a family atmosphere. There are regular company meetings and social time after. You feel anyone is approachable at any level. - See the core of different businesses. - Time to work from home.

Cons

- Travel is a big part of the job so it is likely most of the time you will be at a customers site around 3 days a week. This can be challenging for a family as this could be anywhere in the UK, with a small chance of further. - Customers can be demanding and always want your time which can offer little time for self development, something which HSO are currently working on changing. - You may be on one project for a long period of time or change frequently, a pro and a con for some people.
