Incompetence at it's finest

Pros

The only real pro is the Nike discount, free samples, and connections you make with other employees. Depending on what team and department you are in, you can POSSIBLY have good training.

Cons

1. Nepotism 2. Oblivious, borderline racist. There was an "All Lives Matter" email sent out by the President to the entire company that was tone-deaf, and in the end, they donated money to a police organization. The apology was rehearsed and wasn't a real apology. DO NOT expect to see and POC in higher positions. Their "reason" you may ask? Well HR's answer is because it is a family run business. 3. Management is incompetent. You ask them for help and they don't have time or what they consider to be "help", isn't help at all. Then when it builds to a bigger problem, management blames you and asks why you didn't do anything to get their attention or to fix it. Management doesn't take responsibility for not being on top of their duties and put the blame on their associates/assistants. The bigger problems should be handled by them, so not sure why they put that responsibility on the shoulders who are under them. It makes them seem like the job is too big for them as well but they get away with it. Also don't expect to get the support you think you deserve. If you're a POC be prepared to be gaslighted when you bring up any complaint to management. I brought up multiple complaints and my manager would at first be on my side but once she actually had to talk to the other party, she would flip to their side. She was always flip flopping so it got to a point that I knew her "support" were just words. To add to that if you have any good ideas, expect them to be passed to your white counterparts and for them to get the credit. Another time when it was related to COVID, she was totally on my side when I explained my POV, but when she went to HR she again changed her story. This is not real support and I no longer trusted her to stand up for me or my team. The way this office handled all the cases related to COVID was alarming. Management cared about having seats filled and micromanaging instead of caring for our safety. 4. Unrealistic workload. The size of each team was minimized drastically due to COVID but the inventory didn't follow suit. Instead it was the total opposite, brands were added and double, even sometimes triple, workload were added to the remaining employees. I spoke out about this to management and their answer was to hire more people in another country to work remotely who had completely different schedules from us. Even with this help from the new part time hires, it was overbearing work for those of us who were in the NY office and my boss would say she "understood" and her solution to this wasn't a real solution. I expected her to push back to her higher-ups and stand up for us but she was a push over, so we got burned out fast. The solution presented by my boss instead was to work overtime and/or the weekends, depending on how much had to be done. I expressed my burn-out and the overwhelming amount a work that I had to handle, and when my review came it got used against me. I was told that I didn't delegate work correctly, that I have to speak up more (even though I did multiple times to her), that even though I have all this work I need to do better to catch all the minor mistakes, etc. After that I had had it. I knew the value I brought to this company. Even though I did my best with the workload that was given to me, it wasn't enough for them. I went through hard emotional and mental trauma with this company. I wasn't going to stand for the disrespect any longer and had to work somewhere where a director knows what they are doing and how to properly lead a team.

Pros

Excellent place to learn about the way big brands operate . You get to work with different departments and learn the basics of how they operate which ultimately results in comprehending the bigger picture. Great people with entrepreneurial spirits and the international side of the business is growing very rapidly.

Cons

Processes can get quite repetitive. Management sometimes doesn't recognize the value you bring to the team.

Pros

Nice people, free snacks , hybrid work environment, unless you work for one of the family members.

Cons

Nepitism at its finest. Most people promoted are family and some family members are not qualified to be in the positions they are in , which leads to poor training and poor management. Lack of communication, and when working for a family member you do not get the same advance of a normal hybrid work environment like every one else. Little to no feedback on job performance and little to no structure.
