Pros

Flexible schedule, work and life balance easy, easy job, more hours during busy season like Christmas, nice employees, no micro managing, independent work, nice supervisors(some)

Cons

Not enough hours- this is pocket money, no full time hours, too much work in the amount of time frame they want it done, managers sometimes don't understand the workload for a big account like Walmart, no benefits, did I say not enough hours, store management complain about pdq placements, turnover is horrible, no benefits!!!

Pros

Good people: creative, hardworking, talented co-workers. Good benefits: compensation, benefits, and perks (even phone discounts). Managers willing to work with you on time off, work/life balance.

Cons

Less time to develop creative designs, more focus on just producing. Massive Layoffs (90% of my department during the time I was there). Once you take a less-creative job it can be very difficult to move up to a more creative role.

Pros

Hallmark is a great place for those who "grow up" within the company. I highly recommend it for people in their 20s who bring only limited outside experience. There is much opportunity to rotate into new positions laterally to broaden one's base of skills. The industry is surprisingly complex so each block of experience helps round out an individual's career. The atmosphere is congenial and family oriented. Employees may freely network and participate in learning opportunities outside of one's job on company time. Corporate communication is among the best I have experienced, although somewhat protective of sharing negative information. Excellent leadership at the very top of the organization. Top tier pay structure is among the best around, even in years of reduced company performance.

Cons

Downsizing continues quietly at Hallmark, which operates in a declining industry. With reduced staff come fewer promotional opportunities. The culture is less welcoming to new ideas that challenge long standing business beliefs, direct dialogue, and more experienced hires. Since joining the company as a senior leader, I found myself under considerable pressure to play ball the Hallmark Way vs. the right way and was treated with less respect/trust because I brought a different perspective than my peers.
