Non-flexible, Low Pay

Pros

Free tuition coverage if you work there 1 1/2 years. Okay PTO *About 10 days a year* That's about it....

Cons

My manager literally watches everything I do and tracks it. I get in trouble if I'm not doing enough. I received maybe a week of training and was expected to be okay on my own. My ENTIRE job is data entry and yet working from home is not allowed. Only 1 day a week is allowed to people who work there long.. My manager told me that I was the one who had to ASK for more training, not their job to give me more training? I sit in my office all day, no one talks to me, bored as heck, when I could be doing everything from home. Super low pay.

Pros

The people (faculty, staff, students) are fantastic. Hard-working, dedicated, creative, intelligent individuals. It is the people that keep me at Hamline.

Cons

High turnover in staffing positions makes it difficult for all employees on campus to do their job. When you don't retain talent, you lose institutional knowledge and the institution suffers. Financial issues has resulted in everyone being asked to do more with less. Decisions with the goal of resolving financial issues are made that negatively impact users day-to-day, without proper consultation of the user before adopting the change (e.g. technology rental program, VDI).
