      Not worth the stress

      Pros

      Scenery is nice, campus is secure

      Cons

      stressful. micromanagement. no care for the students, more for the paperwork. most will not even speak with a student or anyone 'lower' than themselves. its common to see specific people having employees walking out of their offices upset or crying from the lack of respect given. no room to move up or departments. most buildings have a roach problem/falling apart.

      Pros

      Serving the students and being appreciated by them is rewarding. Work hours are normal. It is a beautiful campus by the bay.

      Cons

      Pay and benefits are horrible. Very little room for pay increase, no upward mobility. You are stuck where you are. Very old school and unorganized. Little electronic processing, everything still via paperwork and slow. Old buildings and furniture. NO resources, financing, or support for anything yet expectations are very high. Connections are everything, if your know someone that works there or have family working there everything gets handed to you.

      Pros

      Excellent work culture, I feel like an integral part of our team.

      Cons

      For the long hours, and going the "extra mile" in my position, I am not compensated well enough for the job that I do. If I were not an alumnus with a vested interest in the university, I would have quit a long time ago. Its sad that I could leave here and make $10,000 more instantly doing the same job at another university. No telework options available.
