Pros

I have been at Hanover for over a year, sharing in the highs of the company growth in 2019 along with the uncertainty of the lows during the height of COVID. This team has been nothing but supportive in regards to nurturing talent and enabling me to grow professionally, but I can't say that was a given- It had to be earned and you need to ensure your growth goals are in alignment with the rest of the company. What I'm saying is, this company will give you endless opportunities, but you need to reciprocate and give results in return, or communicate the roadblocks that prohibit your success. Personally, I have nothing but positive things to say about that mindset. Further, the sales training at Hanover is renowned and phenomenal, so if you're looking for an extremely consistent and high-performing sales environment Hanover is the place for you. I had no formal sales experience prior to joining Hanover and I've been able to refine my skills in an advanced manner during my time here. I'm short of 2 years at the company and have been granted 2 internal promotions. I think it's also important to highlight the support I've received from management throughout the pandemic. This runs the gamut from regular virtual check-ins with my manager, support related to the emotional complications/stressors accompanying the pandemic (both professional and personal matters), all the way to updates and company visibility with a monthly townhall session led by the CEO. For context, those used to only occur on a yearly basis prior to the pandemic. I'm grateful to have the support system at Hanover that has helped me develop professionally throughout the highs and lows of the sales environment during my time here. I'm giving 4/5 because I feel there is always room for improvement, but I am excited to contribute to that growth along with the rest of the firm throughout the duration of my tenure.

Cons

On occasion, some of the manager's goals arent necessarily aligned with one another or in the best interest of the broader team, but I haven't experienced an instance where that wasn't resolved upon refining a solution.

Pros

Stellar mentors and solid training program bringing in new members of the team. This is a great place to go for energetic people wanting to take advantage of a company that needs good talent and is willing to invest in them at an entry and middle level in their career

Cons

Not a lot of growth potential beyond the first few steps. It often takes quite some time to settle in and get the best out of the role.

Pros

You will be surrounded by absolutely brilliant analysts and low level managers who are friendly and want to help you learn and succeed. If you are a researcher/analyst you will gain exposure to and experience numerous industries and methodologies that should prepare you for a high paying job in management consulting.

Cons

Low salary Poor culture - Hanover wants you to think it's a fun "start-up" like place with corn-hole, ping pong, and happy hours but the reality is that tight deadlines and a never ending workflow sucks the fun out of everyone and creates a toxic workaholic culture for below-market pay. Although deadlines and workflow can create a poor culture, low level managers frequently encourage analysts to take a break or stop for the day if they see that an analyst is working really late. This helps create a good work/balance in a no-fun workplace. C-suite managers are cowardly, dodge questions, and poor leaders in straining times. Low and mid managers are fantastic.
