Pros

- Young company and there are opportunities for growth - Research team is incredibly smart and intelligent - People are very friendly and helpful. Coworkers go above and beyond to help out fellow researchers. - Researchers work on projects across a variety of industry. Constant opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill set - Activities involving employees are organized regularly (field day, community services, happy hours etc.) - Some professional development training programs and workshops are available - Some flexibility in terms of work hours. Generally projects are assigned for a set number of days and if you manage your time well, there is a good work-life balance. - Some flexibility in terms of working remotely. - 18 days of PTO is not bad and it accrues as well.

Cons

- base salary for researchers is relative low - no bonuses or overtime compensation - retaining top talents is sort of an issue and is mostly because of low salaries

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your time at Hanover. Our co-workers are really remarkable and are true representatives of Hanover's service driven culture, including service to each other. I am glad that you are benefiting from the additional training opportunities and encourage you to bring non-Hanover training opportunities to your manager. We do consider external training on a case by case basis if there is a business or client need for the skill and if it can be shared internally thereafter. We are looking at our compensation bands and making adjustments so that our salaries are competitive in the DC Metro area. Thank you again for sharing your feedback.

Pros

Ambitious company culture, growing very quickly, compensation can be great if you hit benchmarks. You manage your own time (pro if you know what you're doing). Great benefits package. Community focused. Friendly people.

Cons

Just started a standardized on-boarding process and it shows. A lot of self teaching which is fine if you pick the right mentor, but since everyone is out for their own gain, you get a lot of "this is how i do it, but that's just me" and "they tell you to do this, but it takes so much time I wouldn't bother", so you come across a lot of work that needs to be redone before you can get to your own job. I wasn't taught how to generate contact lists (an essential job function) until I had been calling for a week and a half. Also, because they're expanding so quickly, directors and associates found themselves bumping into each other's potential clients. I didn't have a director for almost the first 3 weeks I was in the position, and found myself with very little to do, and zero guidance, and when I finally had a director assigned to me, it was a guy who worked in another office. As a new employee, I don't think that was very fair for either of us.

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your co-workers and some of the additional benefits of working at Hanover. Adding so many new revenue staff this year presented new challenges specifically in regards to onboarding and training everyone. Your feedback related to core skills you needed to do the job as well as recommendations have been passed along to the Sales Learning and Development team and we do hope to improve on the overall onboarding process moving forward.

Pros

The people we work with are by far the best quality of the company, and sometimes the only reason to go to work everyday. The base pay is okay, but compared to other competitors could definitely be better.

Cons

There are very few career advancement opportunities on the sales side, and as we've grown, there have become less. It is increasingly harder to stay motivated as goals constantly change, bonuses are consistently cut, or harder to achieve, and management is consistently asking for more. The culture used to be one that my friends in similar jobs at other companies were envious of, but it later became me being envious of them. As I said above, the friends you make at work are the best part of coming to Hanover, but the work itself is difficult and monotonous, and it becomes difficult to find motivation-especially when you typically face declining pay throughout your tenure.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time at Hanover as much towards the end of your tenure. It sounds like your experience as a new Associate was positive initially and that you left having made some good friends. There definitely were many changes this year on our revenue teams: we added a lot of new people, explored new territories and markets and tried out a few different incentive pay plans. Not everything we tried worked as we had anticipated but we have continued to make adjustments based on feedback from staff, managers and business need. We plan on focusing on improving the training and career development plan for new Associates so that they can build longer term careers at Hanover. We hope that this will add more variety to the role and alleviate some of the repetition in the daily tasks. We've added a few additional opportunities for employees to provide feedback to senior leadership so that we can remain responsive and nimble in an ever changing environment. Thank you for sharing your experience.
