Pros

The best reasons for working at HFT. There is a generous employee discount of 20%. When I worked there, you had a certain degree of flexibility with the scheduling.

Cons

I experienced very long hours that were mandated from management above me. A management schedule submitted was seen as a "minimum" rather than actual. I understand being salary, but the trade off from personal to work life left a lot to be desired. I felt there was a lack of communication from upper management. When I had HR issues, I felt as though they weren't being taken seriously and that things had to get to an outrageous level before anything would happen.

Pros

they are a good company and it can be enjoyable. the coworkers are very nice. it is a job i like going to every day. they do work with you if you need time off. they can be understanding. coworkers try to help each other out as much as possible. you enjoy seeing the customers every day. some come back several times a week. you get to know them very well. you can have some good freinds with your coworkers and your customers. its nice when the whole store can work as a team. that is when every thing comes together.

Cons

the management team needs to keep employees more informed of job opputunities within the company and any new changes that happen within the store it self. they also need to train new employees that are just starting. there is know training for new employees. management is good but they do lapse in some areas. they need to make themselfs more visible on the sales floor instead of being off the floor. no using the cell phones while on the job. cell phones and text messageing are used daily for personal use and not taking care of the customer first. you cant get the help you need when they are on the cell phone.

Pros

Great place to sharpen sales skills. Diverse customer base. Great benefits. Relaxed dress code. New gadgets and tools coming in all the time. Great place for discount tools.

Cons

Too many cheap, poor quality Chinese trinkets. Unsafe work environment. Small, cramped, dirty, overstocked stores. Low pay scale prohibits hiring competent help. Founders/senior management exhibit little knowledge of bricks-and-mortal retailing operations. Too many sales events occurring simultaneously. A computer system from the Stone Age. A warehouse system that believes the stores are storage facilities for the warehouse. Too many rainchecks given out to customers for merchandise that may or may not come in. Too many "outs" in the store, especially during sales where the "outs" have been advertised.
