Pay was below market range, constantly understaffed

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Company too fixated on control at times. A store could be running perfectly and making 130% sales comp to last year among other positive increases but corporate will still yell for pointless reasons. They will never thank you and you can make them an extra $50000 within 6 months compared to the year before and they will still give you a bad raise. Raises are based on the whole store for the whole year, yes, there is a separate employee portion but they are cheap and base it more on the store portion so if you were there for 6 months and tremendously raised sales and made logistic execution 100% better, it does not matter, they will screw your raise by basing it on the 6 months you weren’t there. If you want store manager, don’t expect getting it internally, it will take years to even be considered and even if you are perfect and just bad at interviews, the regional manager will reject you. This happened to a perfect candidate before I left. Also it’s all politics. Don’t expect to simply get a position because you practically were an assistant without the pay, they will abuse that until you leave. There are so many other things but if you want a good paying career in retail, HFT isn’t the place.
