Pros
If you work 40 hours, they give you pretty good insurance. You get your PTO & Sick time in two different buckets. If you are well liked they will work with you on anything. The store gets pretty busy in the summer so the shifts fly by. You get to make long life friends. For the record: I resigned from this job.
Cons
Ok, I started working for this HFT in 2010. The first 8 months into the year everything was great. Everyone from my store had full-time shifts, we all got along as a little family. Then we got a new store manager. I really liked him as a person & saw no threat the first 3 months into his promotion. At first he didnt really change our schedules much, but during the holidays I started to see less hours on my schedule & that was the same for ALMOST everyone. Then I started to noticed that he would give hours to the people he became buddy buddy with. I brought alot of different situations to my store manager attention. Nothing ever changed and one year I was told that because I don't have responsibilities such as raising a child that I didnt need the hours. I went and spoke to the auditor of the store and explained to him why some transactions did not make any sense, nothing changed. The people who he gave 40 hours & benefits were the same people misleading our customers into believing the warranties for our products were free. They would skim a little off the total and add to equal the same amount but include a protection plan. I remember the first Thanksgiving ever that HF was open. My store manager posted a sign asking for help on that day, he needed only 5 people. No one signed up, so out of the kindness of my heart I did and got 4 more people to join. He then announced that who ever signed up would receive time in a half pay. Ten more people signed up, and he decided to pick out of those 10 people instead of the employees who really wanted to work.
