Its The Restaurant Business

Pros

The higher ups aren't just sitting in an office somewhere. They're very interactive and personable with their employees at every restaurant. There is opportunity to grow, I've known people go from back waiting to becoming managers.

Cons

Its the restaurant business, so of course hours can be very long especially when you're salary. A lot of moving of management within the restaurants, soon as you get use to one they're being transferred to another restaurant within the company.

Great Chefs and Divisive Managers

Pros

-Free educational events for selected employees (Wine/Spirits/Beer) -Great food and nice employee discount to their well-known restaurants around NJ -Job mobility within company

Cons

-Managers are moved to the company's other restaurants regularly to give them diverse experience while employees are left leaderless -Star employees are leaned on instead of rewarded -No loyalty to long-time employees. They have forced many to quit for reducing hours in order to pursue careers elsewhere. -Management engages in gossip about employees but is reluctant to address problems with those who cause them. -Tip sharing is poorly balanced. Servers are to sell food/drinks and let other positions do all physical work. Then they leave hours before the end of the shift while other positions stay through to complete regular upkeep work. Then servers get paid more than twice as much as the rest. On top of that, pool tips means the bad servers who generate no money also get paid much more than workers who are much more valuable to the team.
