Pros

If you are a self starter, Hatch is a great place towork as you have leeway to do the things that you can come up with. the caveat is that it should be in alignment with Hatch strategy and the cupport of an associate is cucial.

Cons

Two tier system (associate non-associate) is very clear. Until you reach associate (or shareholder) than your level of influence is limited. Also, power is located in Missisauga. If you are at a satellite office, you are not visible and will not get good assignments.

Pros

As others have pointed out, the compensation can be very lucrative as a shareholder. Clients are interesting.

Cons

Management flies completely by the seat of its pants. There is no business development strategy, no proactive client strategy, client relationships are all over the place Minimal non-technical training to help us become better business people as well as engineers Investments are for pet projects of the board Being in the board's personal circle is a guarantee of employment for life.
