Pros

Driven team members, engaged and supportive management and leadership, pretty good work/life balance, great growth environment, very flexible methodology, and work environment

Cons

Onboarding to the company isn't formalized well, a lack of unity in enterprise tools/methods exists, the flexible methodology has led to a lack of established standards and practices internally

Thank you for sharing this review, and for the specific observations and suggestions to address a number of growing-pains-related issues we face. Your suggestions resonate with me, and we will highlight these suggestions in today's all-team-member meeting, along with ensuring these suggestions are received within people operations and education & training. I agree that as we scale we need to become more consistent and standardized in our approach, including in onboarding. I like your concept of a "client biography" to enable newly-assigned team members to come up to speed quickly. Further, I appreciate your thoughts about increasing our focus on mentoring. I've really appreciated the chance to participate in the mentoring program that people operations rolled out a few years ago, and know that they are considering ways to continuously improve. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and for choosing to come to Health Catalyst to contribute your talents to the fulfillment of the company's mission! Best, Dan

Pros

Health Catalyst has a great leadership team that is transparent and employee focused. Company has great benefits: generous 401K match, great health insurance coverage, generous education reimbursement policy, etc. Coworkers all seem to embody the company cultural attributes. This is the first place I have worked where being humble is a sought out attribute. Everyone I work with is humble, smart, and hardworking. Plenty of opportunity to expand your skillset and grow with the company. Each client has different needs and its been great getting to work on several projects where I am able to learn new things! Great flexibility of working hours as long as team members are contributing appropriately. We are encouraged to have a meaningful work life balance and I appreciate the ability to work off hours if needed to attend things like children's school events.

Cons

Initial training/onboarding could use some polishing. I believe this is being worked on and am confident that newly hired Analytic Engineers will have a more robust training plan. Remote work can feel lonely at times

Thank you for sharing this review, and for your encouraging words. I also appreciate your observations and suggestions. We are working to make the onboarding process as strong and robust and effective as possible. And we know we can always improve. Also, we just discussed the education and training plan as part of our most recent board meeting last week, and we'll summarize those plans in today's all team member meeting. I was really excited and encouraged to see the robustness of those plans. Finally, regarding ways to build camaraderie between remote workers, and in general, this topic has been on my mind of late. We have a few ideas we're working to implement, one of which is to more pervasively utilize video in our meetings. We're doing this in leadership team meetings each week, and it does seem to improve the connectedness. Further, we're considering ways of "gathering" more often -- around "hub" locations, for activities and events. We have a significantly flexible, remote-friendly approach to our work, which we want to preserve, but we also sense the need to gather and feel more connected as well. One concept we're considering utilizing is more company-sponsored "lunches" for team members, on a more regular basis, across the company. We're still working on it. If you have additional ideas about what we can do here, please feel free to send them to me or to Linda, our Chief People Officer. Thank you again for choosing to join Health Catalyst, and for contributing in such a critical role as an Analytics Engineer. I appreciate the work you do, on the front lines, with our clients, to accomplish our mission. Your work matters a great deal, and I'm grateful to try to support your work each day. Best, Dan

Pros

Culture - never worked at a company that has such a strong focus on a positive, supportive work culture and great work/life balance Mission - the committment to transforming healthcare and improving outcomes for patients and providers, this is a true north that sets the tone for the whole company Ownership - at all levels of hierarchy a strong principle of ownership is encouraged, allowing individuals to rapidly grow and prove themselves in their area of competence -Continuous, transparent improvement and self-reflection: while the company has some areas to improve, it discusses them openly and seeks for ways to improve rapidly

Cons

Diversity - the company's initial team were not very diverse, though great efforts have gone into creating approaches and policies to increase diversity. Some of their new teams are much more diverse and located in several different geographies Strong provider focus - the company is clearly well positioned to have great impact with payers, life sciences, employers and directly with patients, important to move and scale beyond the original scope

Thank you for sharing this review and for choosing to join Health Catalyst as one of our companywide leaders. I'm so grateful for our teammates who have recently chosen to contribute their talents to the mission of the company, and I'm often taken aback as I read through their biographical information and consider their incredible capabilities. You are one of those gifted individuals and leaders, and I feel grateful to be your colleague. I also appreciate your observations about how we can improve and expand our vision. I am also encouraged to see teammates from diverse backgrounds and contexts joining Health Catalyst and contributing at an extraordinary level, and it's encouraging to see many examples of this exemplary work being recognized and individuals qualifying to be promoted into positions of greater responsibility. I continue to feel a deep desire and passion for Health Catalyst to be a place where every team member feels that they have a bright future ahead of them, with many exciting career opportunities available to them as they contribute to the company's mission over time. I'm also excited to see us take steps to expand beyond our core US provider client base, and believe that we can make a broader impact in adjacent markets and internationally. And I feel so encouraged by the talent and commitment of some of our recently-hired international colleagues. I'm excited to see this growth unfold in the months and years ahead, and feel gratitude to you for your willingness to play a leadership role, for sacrificing and volunteering your best ideas and efforts towards this objective. Your contributions are appreciated, please know that. Best, Dan
