Despite the hard work it's the best company I've worked for

Pros

-Ability to influence the future of the company and the industry. -Very intelligent co-workers. -Strong commitment to our core values. -Unlimited time off. -Decent health benefits (industry comparable, but not amazing)

Cons

-Growing company with several growth challenges (co-workers that know nothing about our products or processes, constantly changing structures, lack of commitment to standards, everyone worked to their limit, HIGH potential for burnout) -Dynamic atmosphere, don't expect to report to the same person or sit in the same place very long. -Think that you've earned an office or a quiet place to work? Good luck.

Thank you for your review. I think you capture the potential downside of working at a startup quite well. We do live in a dynamic environment, and the potential for burnout is real. Compounding this is a conscious choice by management to err on the side of less structure than more, in favor of allowing team members freedom to operate within the dynamic environment. This can certainly feel like the "Wild West", for sure. I will say that it should feel less like the Wild West to our clients, and we recognize that. We are putting some things into effect shortly that should help to remedy that. We are also working hard to increase the "quiet place to work" quotient. More on both of these soon. Thanks again!

Pros

Great company for self-starters and those who are excited about the idea of transforming healthcare. Upper management is open and transparent about the current and future state of the company. Politics are kept at a minimum because most people understand that the work needs to get done. The mission, values and culture are embedded in the company--they're not merely words on a slide deck. The perks are pretty good as well, including reimbursements (mass transit, internet, phone, gym to name a few), snacks in the break room and a new on-site gym with fitness classes.

Cons

The only con is that the company is going through growing pains as its size has doubled in the last 1.5 years. With a smaller company things can change quickly, so employees must be flexible. However, I also view this as a pro because it means the company is not rigid in its approach and is willing to admit something isn't working and then change.

Agree with your comments from top to bottom, including the feedback. Culture IS a huge deal. We do need to improve communications throughout the org structure. Thanks again!

Pros

I work remotely, so I'm able to set my own hours and not commute. My manager is very flexible with my working-from-home situation, which I appreciate. Our company benefits are incredible - 3 months of paternity leave has been such a blessing for our growing family. Direct flights from Madison to SLC make office visits very doable.

Cons

I do miss out on some of the all-hands events that take place in SLC, even though I am often able to take my family out to equivalent events (movie outings) and then be reimbursed. I wish we had a better company directory - it's hard to put names and faces together from email alone - the company directory we DO have is clunky.

Great to hear from one of our remote team members! We do try to make sure we do all we can to keep our remote team members engaged and sharing in the journey. This gets tougher the bigger and more spread out we become, but so important to keep pace on this concept in the face of that growth. We will do our best to exceed your expectations on this front. Regarding the better directory-- we hear you. We don't like the old one very much either. This will be something that we will incorporate as part of our intranet project. If you have been around Catalyst for awhile, you will know that the intranet is one of those projects that has kicked around without any real focus for too long. I am happy to say we are almost ready to kick off a project team to tackle this and make improvements. Stay tuned!
