Pros

Health Catalyst is committed to helping clients improve both the quality and cost of healthcare. It's a tough battle but I continue to witness leaders and staff who are committed to working hard to make this happen. The company is growing fast, but continues to exhibit a desire for work/life balance. The leadership is engaged and genuine! I'm proud to be a member of our amazing team!

Cons

We are all challenged to be flexible as the company grows and our roles morph.

Thank you for your thoughts regarding our company. I am proud to be here as well! I agree with your comments, and agree that we try to make sure we maintain work/life balance. I would like to say (not so much for you, as a current employee working here-- you already know this) for everyone reading this and deciding whether Health Catalyst would be a good fit for you or not. When we talk about work/life balance, this does not mean we all work 30 hour weeks and take Fridays off. Personally, I've never worked harder than I do here at Health Catalyst. We are a start up, and that brings with it a certain reality (fluid circumstances around client acquisition, hiring, raising money, etc.) that is no different than any other startup. What I DO think we mean when we talk about work/life balance is that, in the FACE of that startup reality, we believe (and frankly expect) our team mates to value and prioritize those aspects of their lives that let them recharge, be happy, connect with others, enjoy their association with family and friends. We believe that, with flexibility, this is possible even within the environment of the start up reality. This requires great trust from management, and great self-accountability from team members. If you are a self starter who is smart, hardworking, and most of all, humble in your approach and outlook to life (this doesn't mean you are a wimp, it means you approach situations with an attitude of learning, a willingness to accept the opinions of others, confidence to share your own), then you will do well at Health Catalyst. Thanks again!

Pros

Beautiful views; some very nice, smart people; good benefits and pay relative to company size

Cons

Patriarchal, sense of "if we say it enough, we'll start believing it;" seems to hire broken people who are thrilled to be out of their last position; way too Mormon

Thank you for your response, and agree that we have great team members here at Health Catalyst. While I might disagree with some of your opinions, I value your candor regarding the need to make culture real within an organization rather than just talking about it, and absolutely share this opinion. I wonder if you would be willing to reach out to me directly to provide perhaps a little more context around what specific advice you would have regarding this? I completely understand if you may not be interested in this, but I thought given that you have left Health Catalyst, perhaps you might be wiling to help us learn and improve from your experience. I would of course keep your thoughts and identity absolutely confidential. If not willing, no worries, I understand, and would wish you the best of luck in your next position. If so, please send me an e-mail at jeff.selander@healthcatalyst.com. Thanks! Jeff Selander
