One of the things that attracted me to this company was a post on LinkedIn that said, "HIA has always focused on the quality of the work we do for our clients over the quantity. We know from experience that it pays to get it right the first time." However, although I got 100% across-the-board on my first quality review, I was let go on my 29th day because I wasn't meeting their productivity expectations!
I am an experienced coder but there were still a lot of things that were new to me, including software programs and how to determine on a case-by-case basis whether or not Rural Health Clinic guidelines would apply. I was also assigned to code for specialties which were new to me. I made an honest effort to get things right the first time because I believe that accuracy in coding truly matters for patients, payers and the healthcare system in general.
