The company focuses on delivering returns that drive shareholder value, i.e. rising stock prices, and lining the pockets of the executive leadership team. That means they have reduced employee benefits (one example is they raised the percentage of premiums paid by employees). In the meantime, executives boost their benefits, including use of the corporate jets. They have limited career development programs, available only to people favored by management, not necessarily by capabilities or ambition. This breeds a cutthroat culture and has made the place incredibly unpleasant. Now that Health Net is part of Centene, the dysfunctional culture this has just been exacerbated further.

Executive management (director and above) talked the talk but did not walk the walk when it came to creating a good work environment. They talked about listening to their employees and creating a collaborative environment but when it came to execution, they did the opposite and it was more of "my way or the highway" attitude.
