Individual heroics are the name of the game

Solid pay, very generous benefits. 401k, tuition assistance, generous PTO accrual once you've been there for a while.

Cons

Poor technology. Poor collaboration. Lots of individual heroics necessary. Bad relationship between IT and business areas leads many business areas to hire shadow IT staff under business titles. Not good for company or long term career prospects of these tech employees. Company is in a constant state of reaction. Everybody is a "firefighter"

Health Net - good employer, though downsizing/outsourcing of some roles may continue

Some great people to work with and a company with some good growth opportunities in the CA Medicare/Medicaid marketplace.

Cons

Lots of outsourcing of jobs and fucntions driven by cost cutting measures. The rate caps imposed by Obamacare will force operations to be leaner than ideal and more will need ot be doen with less.
