Pros

Purple culture is great in theory. Promotes from within. There is always free food.

Cons

Not everyone can enjoy the purple culture because you are tied to your desk by the phone. Hire experienced management - don't just hire someone because you're friends with them. Hire for merit. Training is informative but sometimes (often) the trainer gives wrong information and despratly lacks the real world calls you get from members. There is way too much micromanaging. We're all adults, treat employees as such a day with more respect. Trying to get time off is the worst! They preach to be empathetic to members but there is no empathy for employees. Getting time off is next to impossible.

Pros

I LOVE that I am able to resolve members issues and that I get to know that the issue is resolved. The benefits for the HSA is great, insurance...well. They do 6 weeks of training. Will get all your hours.

Cons

There are many issues in member services. I will not nit pick on all of them. Just my biggest concern. I started out here a year ago & had NEVER been on a warning for attendance, I have been working for 20 plus years, I can't get off warnings here. If you get sick or have any sudden emergency you will need to know weeks to months in advance so you can try to get approved time off. If you have to leave for an emergency or your too sick to work then you are on a warning, they do let us trade shifts but next to impossible to get a trade. I've seen emails for coverage sent several times in a day where a mom is having to put her child 2nd to her job, leaving kids too young home alone sick or with broken bones at school. I couldn't imagine how these single mom's feel! And it is a HUGE liability! For the last year I have been sick almost constantly. Other people have to come in sick...or else they will be fired. I know 99% of the time I get sick is from work, I don't have kids at home anymore & my husband isn't sick. I've had to work with Bronchitis & had the CEO ask me in the elevator "if you have Bronchitis why are you not home?" I could only answer with coughing. I've been sent home or "strongly recommended to go home" & told not to come to work sick. I can't tell how much I've spent at the Dr for a note because a cold has taken my voice everyone can tell, but have to have a note can't just get some sleep as the Dr is going to say to do. We are supposed to educate members on how to save money on health care but we don't get the option to practice what we preach. I understand that 1 person off the phone makes everyone else pick up your SLACK, I've been told that more than once I've been told that in every meeting with my team lead. But wouldn't that be better than wrong information given because of medicine head, or having to throw up at your desk in a garbage can, or spreading the junk to everyone else? When on a warning you cannot apply for other positions. Member services is the only position that you do not need a BS degree. If you are looking for a place where you will be able to make a career without a huge debt in student loans...keep looking. If you want to be recognized for your effort & get positive coaching...keep looking. If you have might get sick or might have any emergency...keep looking! There's 1 way to get around most of these things; be in the click!

Pros

Exciting company to work for, and exciting time to be with them. They are growing and seeing lots of success. HealthEquity makes it a priority to reward its team members for their contributions, and has generous company bonuses and incentives. There are many opportunities for advancement, or lateral movement, for those who want to explore in their career; they truly reward those who demonstrate their abilities and commitment to the company. I got to see the "heart" of the company working on the HR team, and they honestly care about each team member (employee). It was awesome to see how decisions were made, and how much thought and concern goes into making sure the team members are taken care of and the company culture is preserved. Also, their Total Compensation / Benefits package is fantastic!!! Overall, the people who work at HealthEquity are driven, motivated, positive, and very friendly. The office space is new and beautiful.

Cons

As with any company in growth-mode, you must be ready to wear many hats and adapt to the changing business needs. And move your desk, possibly a few times, if needed! Only other con I can think of was the commute, as they are located in Draper/Lehi area, and I was driving from north of Salt Lake City.

Thank you for your review of HealthEquity on Glassdoor. We appreciate hearing from our team members to best create a positive working environment. The growth of the business can be very rewarding and engaging but can come with challenges on 'many hats' and of course, the emails... We strive to achieve balance with the work/life and the needs of the business. Hearing from our team can best set us up for success in this area. Thank you for your contributions to the team.
