Horrible place to work. I was treated like garbage, patronized often and made to feel like a fool if I didn't know something regarding an industry I was brand new to. I asked a question on my 4th day and was told, "I really don't have time to hold your hand through this"...it was a yes or no question regarding a very unique shipping model I had only received a brief intro on. They're still running like a start-up trying to fix problems that should be month long initiatives in 3 weeks then wondering why things fail again. Management was a DISASTER! It was filled with petty, immature, rude people and not to mention the rumors and gossip that would go around about how people got to their roles. I was expected to travel constantly, with little to no notice, and couldn't even get a company card. I had to pay off my credit card bill on my own then they'd constantly be delayed on my reimbursement!! Numbers were constantly showing a failing business then employees were expected to manipulate the data to show growth. In my short time there 4 people ere fired with no notice and I can't even count how many people quit. Oh and the interview process and job posting could not have been farther from what the actual job required. I accepted a job and soon realized it was a position completely different from how they made it seemed and I would have NEVER taken the job if it was described correctly. I was reprimanded for not having experience with a particular system that I never claimed to have, and wasn't on the job description.

We work to train our employees and Managers so they are prepared for their roles and recently developed a Manager Fundamental Program for our managers to develop their skills. Communication is a major focus at HelloFresh and we have developed a cadence that we hope creates more transparency: we have quarterly Town Hall meetings to share business updates, and encourage regular 1:1 meetings with managers to cascade information to every employee. We aim to be as transparent as possible and strive to help all employees understand our business and how decisions are made. We are also constantly trying to improve our internal processes including our company cards and expense reimbursements to make the systems more reliable for employees. Culture Gone, Here Comes AI and Austerity Actions

Pros

The people are great - the first 75% of my time there was also great, from Pre-COVID to 2025.

Cons

Business took too long to pivot once they saw demand softening. Needed post-COVID solutions way sooner. Tons of layoffs and attrition, backfills either from Canada or workload offshored to reduce headcount spend in the US. New President/CEO putting everything towards AI as magic solution. This new Grizzly report doesn't help either.

Smart people crushed by ugly corporate politics

Great discounts on food, incredibly smart people to work with and learn from.

Where to begin...at first you think it's a really supportive, exciting place to work. But it quickly becomes clear that the only people producing real work are at manager level and below. Associate Director on up are there only to jockey for position and promotions. There is constant change in a way that leads to confusion and frustration, those at higher levels want to 'make their mark' on the organization but just induce stress and chaos with unnecessary changes. If you are not hired as 'Special Ops' you will not get a promotion, that is made painfully clear. Special Ops employees raise each other up while squashing anyone not within their ranks. However, most have no real world experience and were hired only because they went to fancy business schools. It's a recipe for the most toxic work environment I've ever experienced. I would stay away.
