Pros

Great team members who were young and fun. Went out after work on many occasions for drinks 70% discount on boxes. Would get lots of free boxes if delivery messed up, free food sample from companies. Free breakfast, free Friday lunch and free lunch on the weekend but I understand this ended a looong time ago

Cons

They hire inexperienced ditzy people from outside the company into managerial positions, bypassing and refusing to promote current staff. Obviously this is terrible for morale. High turnover- indicative of the culture and how valued people feel. Treated like a child, timed when you use the bathroom etc Basically operating like a CALL CENTRE, not a startup like they try to give out. Literally feels like you are working in a field being overwatched by a master, ready to whip at an instance. Some of the rules often catch customers out which raises their revenue, but means you are dealing with all the crap from the customers and unfortunately there is nothing you can do. I would often find staff members crying in the toilet due to being sworn at and abused over the phone by angry customers. They tend to promote or have in managerial positions people of a specific physical type. The company believe having more women equals diversity. No thought about other minorities based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation etc. They like to hire people who look the part, but do not have a clue, sometimes some of these people have ridiculous egos. Working in a dingy basement which is rat infested. Job security is low as they use lots of temps and fire for stupid reasons. This place is an absolute disaster, if you need a job then accept but if you have options please consider them before you work at this company. It is a cesspit of incompetence!

Pros

Quite an energetic group of people

Cons

• Use ABN loophole to avoid paying a fair wage + super annuation to employees (is this even legal?) • Entirely commission based, even though hours full-time • Exploits those on working holiday visas, who are just looking for a reasonable job and pay • Door to door sales, outside all day long • No line between the social, professional, and possibly offensive • Highest turnover of any job I've experienced • Did I mention you don't get paid unless you make a sale? • Weird that there's very few Aussies(if any) in a company that emphasizes locally sourced food. • Overall, everything about this operation seems shady and I'm surprised more haven't taken notice

HelloFresh Response

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. We're sorry you've had a bad experience. We know that there is always room for improvement and we want to make sure that contracting with HelloFresh is perceived as a positive experience. We do understand the concerns you mentioned regarding commission-based working arrangements. The commission-based model that many companies use is aimed at rewarding contractors for their results and performance. It is no way our motivation to 'exploit' those on a working holiday visa. We put some effort into outlining all conditions regarding commissions and base pay prior to contractors commencing. We do understand that working in a sales role can be quite challenging.

Pros

Australian Marketing Exec & German Head Office Senior staff have their heads screwed on.

Cons

Where to start? If you are not a European male with contacts, you're paid minimum wage, even if you're one of the handful of long-serving employees. Said Euro males flaunt their salaries with new cars and flashy apartments, meanwhile don't display any sound knowledge of running a company efficiently. Eg. Didn't think to check council recycling policies before advising customers to recycle items that councils do not recognise as recyclable. MD asked for Global design lead to not be included in local design tasks, meanwhile the local designer is expected to have weekly calls with Global team to update on progress of tasks. Was actually told "Just because it's 5pm and you've finished your work, it doesn't mean you can go home." Was also told $25 as a casual rate for a senior designer was too high. Big W pays more for roles not needing a 4 year degree. Other employees were allowed a huge margin of error, but if the designer doesn't catch a spelling error in a document written by a recipe writer, proofed 3 times by content writer and senior development staff- it was still somehow the designer's error.
