Pros

flexible schedule, and it's mostly light housekeeping so it's an easy job as far as that goes

Cons

Little mileage compensation..I drive 20 miles to and from home just for 2 hours sometimes so there is absolutely no gas compensation for that. Some clients are very rude and management tells me "that's just how she is". I have gotten in trouble over a lack of communication between the person answering the phone and the supervisor. I wasn't told to do something which resulted in the branch manager threatening to write me up and the "secretary" lying to cover herself, and this has happened more than once. The supervisors are rude and don't care to work with schedules the aid and client both want. Not many hours either and a lot of driving. A lot of clients will cancel at the last minute and nobody will inform the aid so you waste gas and time and lose the hours.

Pros

They are working with my clients, love them. There are very few HHA'S, and DSP'S that I would work with because they know what "TEAM PLAYER" means. The areas I work are close to me. I'm able to choose what days and hours I work.

Cons

Upper management has no clue about their consumers or their needs,or about the caregivers. As a caregiver I know more about the client because I'm there hands on. It takes forever for them to take care of a situation and when they do they just move the aide to another house. They will hire anyone off the street but they always say they are experience but when they go into the home they don't know what to do then there has been accidents that has happened. Its hard for them to let another caregiver train them in the home they are going to be working.

Pros

Helping the elderly is very satisfying, being able to go out and meet new poeple and have new experiences.

Cons

Few hours, low wage, poor benefits, unprofessional business, surpervisots have bad attitudes all the time, they will hire pretty much anyone off the street...just to name a few cons.
