Has become way too corporate. Instead of each store having an autonomous GM there are now regional managers who are nothing more than puppet masters.
Their first directive is showing more profit. The short term solution is to cut payroll by introducing new, very aggressive and unattainable pay plans and eliminating some mid level managers. Those left behind assume duties once held by departed staff at a lower compensation level and longer hours.
I was given a "promotion" after a manager left, it took a month to get a new pay plan that was less than what I made in a lower position with the requirement of more hours. There are people who have been in new positions for 90 plus days with no pay plan.
The reduced staff are overworked to the point that simple requests such as logins for new employees, business cards, ID badges and the like take weeks instead of days. It can take up to a month to get employees processed after hire.
All of the midlevel managers at our store left within a few months. I left of my own accord. Got an upper management job with a smaller auto group with only a GM to answer to and, get this, a decent pay plan with less required hours.
