Pros

It’s tough work, and you get out of it what you put in. But they’ll train you, benefits are good, you gain a skill applicable for a lifetime. Pay and benefits are good - nothing crazy, but they start higher than most and moving up is easy as long as you’re reliable and put the effort in.

Cons

It can be stressful, especially when short-staffed (you’ll get called in a lot. But overtime makes up for it), and sometimes you won’t know how you’ve dealt with it. If it’s a rough climate, depending on which garage (older vs newer), it’s hot as heck in the summer and freezing in the winter. Overall, still a good place to work, but a lot will depend on your manager and surrounding staff. With a good manager and team, you build a strong camaraderie
