Pros

Henry Mayo is well staffed, which contributes to above average patient care. As I walk through the campus, I am always amazed at how quiet the patient environment is . What this hospital does extremely well: provide evough staff to avoid patient call lights going off AND a high tech communication environment that eliminates a lot of phone calls. The dedicated uniforms for different disciplines is wonderful. The EVS Staff are the most polite I have ever seen. Actually, nearly everyone is friendly and staff look happy ( unhappy, stressed staff are easy to detect. I don't sense this at Henry Mayo)

Cons

I honestly can't think of many. When compared to the average hospital, Henry Mayo is a definite stand out

Pros

Not much to say...it's close to home for most who work there because no one will drive farther. There's so much turnover that there are always job openings.

Cons

Management is dishonest with company finances, business dealings, handling key issues and constantly brushes issues under the rug. There are no solid HR policies. The best employees are disgruntled and don't speak out for fear of retaliation. There's so much back stabbing and discrimination among the staff that it shows in the poor patient care. Employees are more concerned about popularity and putting down co workers who are "heavier, less attractive, don't drive the popular car or use the latest cell phones" that they don't put effort into caring for the patients. The theme is constantly "that's not my job"... No one wants to take responsibility or action until there's a crisis, in which case, they blame someone else or harassment of hard workers occurs. Medical equipment and technology is poorly maintained yet published as if it's top of the line. Medical staff abuse substances and do unthinkable acts on company time. This I've seen with my own eyes. This is real and there are countless law suits to prove it. Employee benefits are horrendous. You get worse care than what you are paid to provide. Patient accounts and billing are mishandled and vulnerable patients are constantly billed for services they either weren't made aware of or made to believe were covered, only to have to fight a downhill battle once being discharged from the hospital. This place is horrible to work for, I couldn't imagine having to be a patient.
