Pros

Flexibility, highly recognized company in its industries, American products, employee owned. Family friendly and great representatives through out the region.

Cons

Other posters have been accurate: independent contractors here are only "business owners" when it benefits the company. Seems to be a big disconnect between the field and corporate. Outdated technology and communication systems. Management is there to tell you what to do, not how to do it.

Pros

The job is super-flexible and you are really in control of your own success.

Cons

However, there is quite a bit of dirty play when it comes to the title of "Independent Consultant". You need to be really careful when signing your contract and know that you are only an Independent Consultant when it suits the company, not when you need it. You will be forced to do things and you will not get any benefits. That's not the definition of Independent Consultant and it causes a lot of problems in the job.

Use to love going to work every morning but now it is questionable.

Pros

The pay is good and you get holidays off to spend with your families.

Cons

when asked to work overtime there is no management there in case you have problems with your machine or you get hurt. When you are having problems with your machine a floor person comes to watch you run it if they don't think that it is serious enough they won't write up your machine to have it looked at by a maintance person. In fact they tell you to keep running it until it really breaks down. To me it would be smarter to get someone over there to look at it so maybe you wouldn't have alot of down time.
