The work environment was very oppressive, like working in a sweatshop. Employees were treated like kindergarteners and department manager used scare tactics to control his workers, consistently bullied them into doing what he wanted. Ridiculous regulations and rules made me feel like I was in grade school. No talking or eating at your desk, or get screamed at behind closed doors? Hours were strict, literally down to the minute. I have never worked in a place with digital clocks on every wall where, the SECOND it hit 3:30, the entire warehouse floor stood up from their desks and herded out of the building like cattle running from a fire. The same happened at break times. Nobody lingered, everybody pretty much bolted out as fast as they could, as if the school bell just rang. Clearly nobody else liked working here either but of course everyone needs the money desperately and therefore nobody had the courage to seek a better life. When asked, nobody I worked with had anything positive to say about the manager.
