Pros

Great place to work when I first started; lots of change and energy in the air. Great opportunity to make an impact, grow skills, etc. Benefits were good, work-life balance was good when things were slow. AMAZING group of people at Hertz, part of the only reason I stayed as long as I did, many co-workers became my friends.

Cons

Constantly shuffling Senior Leadership gave no clear direction, choosing Estero as a location for Global HQ has been nothing short of a disaster and was clearly politically motivated (despite what anyone may tell you), "tight budgets" lead to zero work-life balance and 60 hour work weeks, hiring insane amounts of people with no clear direction, departments do not work together or back-stab each other to take credit. Too much focus on "share price" and "shareholder value" instead of focusing on the 500+ people who moved to Estero to work for the company. No open communication, lots of hush hush secrets all around. Biggest problem though, was legacy employees who moved down (or didn't move down and got to keep their jobs "remote") was the massive resistance to any change despite the fact it was a new location, new talent market, and new leadership; requiring me to relocate for my role but offering not even a single cent to help. I could go on, but those are the major points.

Pros

Pay was decent, opportunity for commission was a plus, that's about the only good things I have to say about the job

Cons

Managers were dumber than a box of rocks. They say you're allowed a 20 minute paid break, but if you are working out in IR (Instant Return) you're lucky to get a 5 minute break, and if you evengo to the restroom the managers start throwing a huge fit and act like it's the end of the world. Also there was too much drama, every employee talked badly of each other and also frequently dissed the managers, which I can see why. The head of management was a complete baboon. If you went to him about ANY problem he just shrugged it off and told you to tell a manager. My BIGGEST complaint of all though is the fact that many employees would disappear for about 1-3 hours and managers would say nothing. Yet I'm gone for 5 mins at the restroom and they flip out, it's just crazy. I've never worked at a place like this before.

Difficult Environment

Pros

401(k), Insurance, Steady schedule, Steady paycheck. The experience gained at this company will help you in the future, even if it is gained at a significant cost.

Cons

There are a lot of legacy employees who do not agree with the movement of the headquarters to Florida and therefore do not agree with forward thinking. They dislike any ideas or people with ideas that differ from their own. This creates a hostile environment. Management (which has changed, hopefully for the better) has been focused only on the bottom line and not on employee satisfaction, which translates to customer satisfaction and net profits.
